The Power of Forgiveness — Allah Wipes Away Sins
All praise is due to Allah, the One who forgives all sins, no matter how big. He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving. We praise Him, we seek His mercy, and we turn to Him in repentance. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and final Messenger.
Dear brothers and sisters,
No matter how good we try to be, we all make mistakes. We forget, we slip, we fall. But what makes Islam beautiful is that Allah does not shut the door when we sin — instead, He opens the door wider.
He is Al-Ghaffar — The Constant Forgiver.
He is Al-Ghafoor — The Most Forgiving.
He is At-Tawwab — The One who accepts repentance again and again.
Allah’s Forgiveness is Bigger Than Our Sins
“Say: O My servants who have wronged themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
(Surah Az-Zumar 39:53)
This is one of the most hopeful verses in the Qur’an. No matter what you’ve done — if you turn back to Allah, He will forgive you.
The sins you regret.
The prayers you missed.
The wrong words you spoke.
The bad choices you made.
All can be forgiven — not just hidden — but completely erased.
He Loves to Forgive
Some people forgive reluctantly. They hold onto the pain. But Allah’s forgiveness is different. He loves to forgive.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah is more happy with the repentance of His servant than one of you who finds his lost camel in the desert.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
Imagine being lost in a desert with no food or water. You think you’re going to die. Then suddenly you find your lost camel — your life is saved.
That joy? Allah is more joyful than that when you return to Him. Not because He needs us, but because He loves to show mercy.
Sincere Repentance Wipes the Slate Clean
What does it take to be forgiven?
It’s not complicated. Allah made it easy:
- Feel regret in your heart.
- Stop the sin immediately.
- Ask Allah sincerely for forgiveness.
- Promise not to return to the sin (even if you fall again, keep repenting sincerely).
And if the sin involved someone else’s rights, you must make it right with that person.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The one who repents from sin is like the one who has no sin.”
(Ibn Majah)
SubhanAllah — not only does Allah forgive, He makes it as if it never happened. That’s the power of true repentance.
His Forgiveness Has No Limit
Allah forgave a man who killed 99 people, and then added one more. But when that man sincerely sought forgiveness and wanted to change, Allah forgave him — even though his deeds were heavy with sin.
“Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:48)
So never let your sins stop you from turning back. Your Lord is bigger than your mistakes.

Keep Asking for Forgiveness, Every Day
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the most perfect of humans, yet he used to say:
“By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and I repent to Him more than seventy times a day.”
(Bukhari)
He ﷺ didn’t do that because he was sinful — but because he knew how much we need Allah, every single day.
So never think you’ve asked too much. Never think it’s too late. Never stop saying:
“Astaghfirullah” — O Allah, forgive me.
Say it with your heart. Whisper it in the dark. Repeat it after prayers. Let it be the soft breeze that blows across your soul.
Forgive Others, and Allah Will Forgive You
If you want Allah to forgive you, learn to forgive others.
“Let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you?”
(Surah An-Nur 24:22)
Don’t hold grudges. Don’t carry hate. When you forgive, you are not weak — you are freeing your heart, and opening the door for Allah’s mercy to reach you.
The Best Time to Seek Forgiveness
Allah is always ready to forgive, but there are special times where His mercy is even more open:
- In the last third of the night
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every night, Allah descends to the lowest heaven… and says, ‘Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so I may forgive him?’”
(Bukhari and Muslim) - After prayers
- On Fridays
- In sujood (prostration)
- In the last moments before breaking your fast
- In the last 10 nights of Ramadan
Use these windows. Ask Allah sincerely. He is always listening.
Conclusion: Allah’s Door Is Always Open
Dear brothers and sisters,
In this life, people may judge you, reject you, or remind you of your past. But Allah does not.
He says:
“O son of Adam, if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky, and then you were to ask forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you and not mind.”
(Tirmidhi)
So never think you are too far gone. You are only one sincere du’a away from being clean, light, and forgiven.
May Allah make us from those who repent often, whose hearts are soft, whose sins are wiped away, and whose place in Jannah is guaranteed by His endless forgiveness.
Ameen.
